CANDLE CARE
CANDLE CARE TIPS
Keeping your candle wicks trimmed to about 1/8 of an inch, whether wooden or cotton. In some cases the higher the wick the higher the flam. Keeping your wick trimmed helps to control the height of the flame of a burning candle and reduces carbon emission.
Always burn candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface
Never leave a burning candle unattended
Never touch or move a burning candle.
Extinguish a candle if it repeatedly smokes or the flame becomes too high
Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and debris
Never extinguish candles with water
Place burning candles at least three inches apart from one another.
Always keep away from children and pets.
Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire
On your very first burn; to avoid tunneling, allow a full melt pool across the whole top of your container.
Never leave a burning candle unattended
Never use a candle as a night light
Drafty conditions can cause uneven burning. Ensure your candle is in a draft-free location.
Any candle in a container should not be lit for more than 4 hours at a time. Allow your candle to cool completely prior to relighting and always trim your wooden wick prior to each burn. Burning a candle for longer than the recommended time may cause the glass to become over-heated and break.
Travel Tins and any other metal containers will become hot. Be sure to protect the surface of where the candle will be placed.
WOODEN WICKS
WHY WOODEN WICKS?
Here at Lighted Luxury we use wooden wicks for most of our candle products.
Our wooden wicks are 100% natural and manufactured in the USA, our Wooden Wicks are sustainable and eco-friendly.
Wooden Wicks diffuse heat more rapidly into the wax, and can push up to 35% more fragrance throw into a room, compared to cotton wicks.
Wooden wicks don’t “mushroom” or “bloom”. They don’t create an ugly black ball on the top of the wick that lingers and smokes after burning for a while.
Wooden wicks crackle! The level of crackle in our wicks will vary depending on the fragrance load and other additives.
Wooden wicks burn much cleaner, and while they don’t get the carbon build-up that needs to be trimmed off of cotton wicks, they will develop a slight amount of ash at the tip of the wick. The ash can be easily broken off when cool before relighting or cut using a wick trimmer. Sometimes, if there is too much ash build-up, you will notice the flame getting smaller, but once you remove it, the flame comes right back to life. Just be careful not to leave any debris in your candle.
The crackle you hear comes from any of the chemical compounds present in our candle blend reaching their respective flash points. These may include moisture present in the wick, wax, fragrance and any other additives in the blend.
